Reciprocal Reading

In Hillary Class we learn so much from our reciprocal reading sessions. During reciprocal reading we cover the following skills;

  • Summarising- This is where the children summarise the key points in the book.
  • Questioning- To ask and answer questions based around, who? What? Why? When? Where? What if?
  • Clarifying- To clarify unfamiliar words and phrases.
  • Predicting- Use clues from what they have read and the illustrations to predict what is going to happen. Using the phrases, what if? Maybe? It might be that? I wonder if? This may be about?

This week's reciprocal reading book, week commencing the 26.04.21 is The Magic Garden by Lemniscates.

We are continuing with our reciprocal reading book, The Magic Garden and the children have drawn their own beautiful magical gardens and used such wonderful ambitious words to describe their gardens.
